Chicken and Turkey

This is a tough one for most people. I’m a big fan of chicken and turkey but most of these animals in the USA are fed corn and soy products. That makes them corn and soy bombs disguised as chicken and turkey. If you have access to self fed birds, the ones that graze for bugs and stuff on their own, then this is a good option for you. There are some specialty grain fed farms that produce high quality birds as well but come with a high price tag. It’s less costly to buy grass fed beef or wild caught salmon. I’m not against this protein source as long as you can be sure your food is corn and soy free. Search the web for the low-lectin farms and be prepared for the price.

Beware of “organic” and “free range” labels. This only means they were fed organic corn and soy. I have seen corn and soy free eggs at Sprouts and Whole Foods so those might be an option as well but some people are sensitive to the proteins in eggs.

Add Veggie or Not?

This is optional but I encourage it. Pressure cooked vegetables will add to the meal and give an even greater sense of fullness. Raw vegetables are much harder to digest and not recommended during elimination. Over cooking them is also preferred as it destroys the lectins. So with or without the veggie let the eating begin.
