Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra, also known as Non-Sleep Deep Relaxation (NSDR), is a relaxation technique that focuses on the body. During meditation, we try to focus our minds and allow our bodies to disappear. In Yoga Nidra, however, we focus on bodily sensations and allow the mind to disappear. This activates different areas of the brain.

As with meditation, there are many ways to practice yoga nidra. Guided yoga nidra is available online, and Ally Boothroyd is one of my favorites.

Yoga nidra’s main feature is the ability to completely relax, making it an excellent practice to help with sleep. Some advocate using it to fall back asleep if you wake up during the night. However, it does not replace meditation because it is not a way to reorganize thoughts.
