Fasting Pregnant
Pregnant, Nursing or planning to be
No, this is easy. All forms of fasting put stress on the body. A stressed body is less fertile. A woman needs at least 22-25% body fat in order to carry a healthy infant to term. Additionally, fasting releases stored toxins and heavy metals. This process can take up to a year. Although I was unable to find definitive guidance on becoming pregnant while fasting, I believe that abstaining from fasting for at least six months is likely safe.
If you have already given birth and are breastfeeding, which is ideal for your baby’s nutrition and microbiome, then fasting is also not recommended. Fasting is not recommended while nursing.
The rest of the food plan is safe and recommended. Your microbiome will become your baby’s. Low-inflammatory, nutritious foods are exactly what your baby needs. Please switch from the SAD (Standard American Diet) to take advantage of the cooking methods and recipes. Pay special attention to the “Not Food” section. Your baby deserves the best start possible.
